Just downloaded avast and also Spyware Doctor from PC Tools – do they work okay together?

Spyware Doctor

I had problems downloading avast, but eventually got there. I downloaded Spyware Doctor, but to allow me to clear out infections it wants a subscription.

Do either of these slow down your machine?

Is Spyware Doctor really necessary?

Chosen Answer:

Spyware Doctor

Avast antivirus is a very good freeware & recommended.Spyware Doctor is a very good shareware but payment is required. If a freeware is needed then I would suggest Spyware Terminator which is also very good & provides real-time protection. This infact would be my choice over Spyware Doctor.Either though will run ok with Avast & you do require a good antispyware program to compliment.http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spyware_Terminator/1139394850/1

Download the google tool kit, it has a free version of Spyware doc , uninstall the current one and reinstall using google desktop.

they should work together, just make sure they dont scan at the same time and that if they have a exceptions list, or ignore list, just add the folder /avast /pc tools

    They will work fine together.

If Spyware Doctor wants money to clear infections then uninstall it and use a free one:
    Windows Defender (Microsoft)
    and/or
    Spyware Blaster

Spyware Doctor trial versione will only eliminate 20 infections and leave others, so you have to pay to eliminate all, Its only the download that is free, you can just uninstall it if you don’t want to pay for subscription and download other spyware that is really free. Avast is also a good antivirus. Check it out on http://www.download.com

I run Avast with the free version of Spyware Doctor, Spyware Doctor Starter Edition. No conflicts, no slowdowns; but I choose to run Spyware Dr. as an on-demand scanner, not real-time, so Your Mileage May Vary if running it in real-time.

    Spyware Doctor Starter Edition: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Spyware_Doctor_-_Starter_Edition_d5790.html

Edit: There is/are no limitation on Spyware Doctor Starter Edition. It is full-function, remove-what-it-finds.
Listen up people… it is full-function, no limitations, removes what it finds free. No cost. Full license. Free. Don’t have to buy it. No limitations.
The real-time protection is *somewhat* limited compared to the full paid version, but the scanning and removal are the same (and free, with no limitations.)
